Film Posters : How Train Spotting became famous + 127 Hours

Within the process of creating the poster the initial stages included in  the  brainstorm had ideas that went back and forth such as' deliberately amateurish snaps and photo booth shots, and of using train windows as frames for the individual portraits'. But instead they settled for a simple poster which was recognized by the D&AD ( design and art direction) that believed despite its visual simplicity and immediacy , its core strength lies in its powerful ambiguity.

127 HOURS
This is one of many film posters which caught my attention due to its visual meaning as well as its interpreted one. Its obvious visual front shows a small James Franco entrapped between two massive engulfing boulders within an awkward position to withstand himself from falling down, onto what is a much smaller boulder. Where as on the other hand you can interpret the image to represent an hourglass which the outline of the two boulders create where James Franco is stuck in time as the grain of sand (tiny boulder) trapped between the two boulders prolonging entrapment time, which again signifyshow time is an important element to the movies hence " 127 hours".

My film Consumption

I visit the cinema the cinema every once a month and the last 5 films that I last watched in the cinema was Safe Haven , Fast and the furious 6, Gangster Squad, Man of Steel and After Earth. I do not rent movies on line or download or use a demand TV service.I also do not read film magazines but I do go on film based website called rotten tomatoes to get ratings on films to get a second opinion on the film, thus helping me decide weather or not it worth watching.

Spider-Man film trailer analysis

Through out the whole movie trailer there was no showing of the directors/ producers and more importantly the stars of the movie, this is because they wanted the audience to immerse themselves into a sense of realness towards the characters and not think of them as actors, especially as this movie has a wide target audience which includes young kids allowing their imagination to believe in the characters. The use of music throughout created a tense and dramatic atmosphere at times as well as typical ' hero ' music initiated Spider-mans heroic actions within the quick montages of clips. Also there was a huge amount of dietetic sounds being used through out such as helicopters , explosions a gunshots to establish this violence / action which is a big part of the movie  possibly creating an adrenaline rush or excitement through the audience. More over , this is even more exciting as it takes place within the huge city that is New York there for we get to see the busy streets filled with hundreds of people and vehicles, but the attention is taken away from the busy city and kept on the two main characters throughout the trailer as they drown out the dietetic sounds of a busy city and just zone in on the two characters there, allowing the audience to have their full attention on the two characters. Throughout there was a montage of different voices used for the voice over.
